The Zachary Ruble Memorial Scholarship is available to graduates of Mason County High School, Maysville, Kentucky.

BACKGROUND

The Zachary Ruble Memorial Scholarship program was established by Jay and Paula Ruble in memory of their son, who passed away unexpectedly in April of 2009.  An honor student at the University of Utah, Zachary had an intense passion for protecting the environment, and practiced conservation and recycling.  During most of his senior year in high school, he rode his bicycle to school in an attempt to encourage others to conserve. He was an Eagle Scout, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed rock climbing, backpacking, snow skiing, and water sports.  A 2008 honors graduate of Mason County High School, Zachary maintained a 4.0 grade point average, while still finding the time to play on the school's soccer and tennis teams, and to participate in community service projects.

This scholarship was created to reward students who have demonstrated academic excellence while maintaining involvement in community projects, athletics, and extracurricular activities.  Financial need is not a factor in the selection process.
