The Pat Moore Scholarship is available to graduates of Fleming County
High School, Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Mason County and St. Patrick's
High Schools, Maysville, Kentucky. The applicant must have participated
for at least one season as a student athlete.
BACKGROUND
Pat Moore was a man who cared about others,
especially the
young people in his community. A regional hall of fame basketball
player from his years at Maysville High School, Pat showed his care
through coaching, and through the organization of summer basketball
leagues that helped to mould the character, as well as the talents, of
many young players. He was someone who could be called on for service
by local charities. In 2001, he became a member of Hayswood
Foundation's Board of Directors. The following year, Pat was severely
injured in an automobile accident. He
never recovered, and died in May, 2002, at the age of thirty-two.
